A Holiday Posting Guide for Artists:
Stay Consistent (Without Burning Out)
The holidays have a way of sneaking up. Suddenly, you’re juggling show drop-offs, commissions, family travel, and late-night studio sessions. Consistency on social media matters, but perfection doesn’t. This guide provides a simple, manageable plan to stay visible without burning out. So you can spend more time creating art and less time worrying about captions.
1. Circle Your Crunch Weeks
Pull up your calendar and mark:
Show openings, markets, and delivery deadlines
Commission milestones (approval, finish details, packing, shipping dates)
Family or travel plans
Now set your minimum viable posting goal. Example: Two posts and two Stories per week. If you can do more, great. If not, this baseline still keeps you visible and active.
2. Batch a Tiny Content Bank (Spend about 60–90 Minutes)
One short session = weeks of ready-to-post content.
Shoot quickly: 10–15 vertical photos or short video clips: works in progress, studio spotlight, your palette or tools, a finished piece.
Capture variations: Zoom in, zoom out, change lighting or angles.
Write one-sentence captions now: Keep it simple and conversational.
Save to a folder: Name it Holiday Posts 2025 so they’re easy to find later.
Pro tip: Keep three evergreen prompts handy:
What I’m making · What I learned · Why I love this piece.
3. Repurpose What You Already Have
When time is tight, reuse your strongest moments.
Turn an existing Reel into a carousel by pulling stills.
Repost your top-performing image from earlier in the year with a new hook or updated caption.
Share a progress photo in Stories with a poll (“Keep going?” / “Almost done!”).
Post a quote from your caption as a simple text graphic.
Your audience won’t remember every post (they’re busy too), but they’ll remember your voice and consistency.
4. Create a 2-Minute Posting Ritual
When life gets busy, small rituals keep momentum going:
Choose one photo from your batch folder.
Add a short caption or insight.
End with a gentle call to action: “See more in Stories” or “Join my list for first looks.”
Hit post. Done.
Even twice a week keeps you top of mind and strengthens your habit.
5. Keep a “Holiday Info” Highlight
Help your followers (and yourself!) by saving key info in one easy-to-find spot:
Last day to order commissions
Upcoming shows or markets
Holiday shipping cut-offs
Studio hours
That way, anyone visiting your profile can instantly see what’s current, no scrolling required.
What’s a Highlight?
On Instagram, a Highlight is a collection of your Stories that live permanently on your profile (instead of disappearing after 24 hours). Think of them like mini folders for your most useful or evergreen content. Each one can have its own cover and title.
How to make one:
Post a few Stories with the info you want to save (like your shipping cutoff date or show schedule).
Open your profile and tap the “+” circle under your bio labeled “New.”
Select the Stories you want to include.
Choose a cover image and give it a clear title like “Holiday Info” or “Order Dates.”
Save it. Now it lives on your profile for anyone to see anytime.
Even better, you can update the Highlight anytime with new Story content as things change throughout the season.
6. A Quick Aside: If You Have an Email List…
If you already have a strong list, now’s the time to lean on it.
Send one simple email each month:
One image or story from the studio
Where to see or buy your work
One friendly, personal note
Your inbox is your most reliable channel when social media slows down.
If you don’t have a list yet, stay tuned. Next month, we’ll share a simple guide on how to start one and why it’s one of the best tools an artist can build.
