WIP: ENSOhello in Development

Right now, I’ve got a few paintings on my easels that are WIPs—works in progress. One is an almost-finished portrait of Bonnie, a beloved Jack Russell who recently passed away. I’m hoping this piece will bring a little comfort to her family, who are dear friends of ours. The other is a homework assignment for my art class. I’ve just laid down the first layer, and I’m slowly working my way toward the next stage. Both pieces remind me that progress often comes in layers.

Work in Progress = Creative Process

Whether it’s a canvas or a startup, WIPs share the same rhythm:

  • Start messy. The first layer rarely looks like the final vision.

  • Refine as you go. Each step brings new clarity (and new questions).

  • Trust the process. The beauty shows up along the way.

ENSOhello is also a work in progress—an exciting one. The pieces are starting to come together. The website is live. Social content is taking shape. These blogs are flowing out (like this one!). And behind the scenes, the app itself is in development. now, we’re focused on building a simple version that captures the heart of the idea. The design, the features, and the voice are all beginning to take form. Soon, we’ll begin testing with small groups of artists so we can refine and improve. By late fall, we plan to launch a lightweight version for artists to try out. From there, we’ll be looking for investor support to expand functionality and keep making the app better.

Behind the Scenes: Version 1

Think of this first version like a sketch. It may not have all the details yet, but it holds the energy of what’s coming. We’re testing for:

  • Ease: Does it feel simple, not overwhelming?

  • Voice: Does it feel like a helpful studio assistant, not just another app?

  • Flow: Does it save time so artists can get back to their craft?

Like any creative process, it’s equal parts planning, experimenting, and refining. Some days the brush moves effortlessly; other days, it takes patience and persistence. But each stroke brings ENSOhello closer to what I imagined it could be: a simple, supportive tool that helps artists and solopreneurs create and share content with ease.

If you’ve ever looked at your own unfinished piece and thought, “Not quite there yet—but getting closer,” then you know exactly how I feel about ENSOhello right now.
